He took an active part in the “Global Terrorism” workshop with the invitation of KU Leuven University in Belgium. He has nearly 70 scientific studies, published in respected journals, books and book chapters, and proceeding papers. His primary fields of study are organizational psychology, management, organization and neurostrategy. He coined the term “Neurostrategic Management” to the literature for the first time. Currently, he is managing the first applied neurostrategic management project. In this line, we asked him a few questions about this project.
You are known as a successful scientist trying to study on unique topics. How did you come up with the idea of this project?
Researchers in the social sciences often make use of traditional research methods, but these methods have limitations that cannot be ignored. Obtaining and analyzing data with advanced technology, and sophisticated and reliable tools instead of traditional methods enables much more successful studies to emerge. It is possible to say that modern analytical methods come into play, unlike traditional methods, in the strategy formation process. Neuroscience stands out as a modern analytical approach and revolutionizes the way we see and understand strategy-making in the brain. As a scientist working in strategic management and neuroscience, I asked myself the following question: Wouldn't it be great if we took neuroscience and strategic management together?
From this point of view, I became the first scientist to coin the term “neurostrategic management” in the literature. After the publication of my conceptual research about it, I realized that there is no obstacle to doing an applied project on neurostrategic management. And I asked myself: “How will new strategies be developed after a strategist explores his/her brain deeper?” I was so curious about the results then I suddenly found myself as the manager of this project. That's why I’m so excited.
What does neurostrategic management mean? What kind of contributions do you expect once the project is completed?
Neurostrategic management briefly refers to the exploration of a strategist’s brain via neuroscience techniques and its inclusion in the strategic management process. In fact, I think it will make a multifaceted contribution. First, strategists will have the opportunity to get to know themselves better and make a personal current situation analysis. Thus, it will be possible to identify the points that were ignored while creating the strategy. I assume that a strategist who has experienced all these can formulate more successful strategies at work. I predict that the results of the project will guide other scientists as well. Isn't it exciting to unlock a new perspective in the exploration of the brain?
